Garrett’s artwork focuses on still life, often depicting ordinary objects and spaces. Working from life is important to him; the careful process of direct observation invites viewers to reconsider things we often overlook in our day-to-day lives. He believes ordinary subjects can hold great potential for conveying drama and meaning.
As an instructor, Garrett is passionate about teaching practical skill sets to developing artists, and demystifying art-making wherever possible. He firmly believes everyone has the potential to create work they can be proud of.
