Col Urrutia is a Vancouver based artist and instructor. He studied at the Barcelona Academy of Art and in various ateliers throughout the US, where he developed a rich understanding of traditional and contemporary art approaches.

Col’s artwork explores various genres, focusing on urban landscapes, domestic spaces, still lives, and the human figure, with a keen eye for detail. Whether working from life or reference imagery, Col experiments with spatial distortion, nocturnal lighting, and eccentric colour palettes, seeking to place the viewer into an altered state of perception. Creating news ways of looking at the world is what motivates him as an artist and educator.
